Troubled Waters

February 23, 2009

The President has signed the stimulus package and the country is holding its collective breath in anticipation of what will be some of the largest government spending programs since World War II. This could be a turning point in our struggle to establish energy independence in the next 10-15 years. How will the money be spent? Who will decide which infrastructure and biofuel programs to fund? How much focus will be spent on alternative energy programs that are proving to be legitimate opportunities for our struggle to achieve energy independence?

These questions and many more seem to be overlooked in the rush to push money into our economy in what amounts to be a spending Tsunami. Does anyone really believe that without a cohesive strategy, billions upon billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars will be properly allocated to lead us out of this recession? If China owns all our paper how will we pay them back? We have to invent something that is so valuable and such a rare commodity that the world once again respect our way of life. That invention is energy, biofuels like cellulosic ethanol to be more specific, and yes we can, even in these troubled waters.
